Extra Curricular Clubs
After school clubs are one of the best ways for your children to learn new skills and make friends, whilst also being looked after in a safe environment.
Our after-school clubs focus strongly on making sure the children are playing and having fun whilst also learning new things. Learning comes through play or creativity, whether they’re making new friends or just burning off energy, there is a place for every child in our after-school clubs. Our range of after school clubs are beneficial for children of all ages and are run by engaging, fun and friendly adults. We have clubs run by Bexton staff, by Bexton parents and by many external providers.
Giving children the opportunity to learn a new skill that they did not have time for during school hours can enhance their overall development and improve their school performance. Being around other children who are keen to learn a new skill can also motivate them to take part in new activities or learn something different.
Bexton’s after school clubs offer a range of extra-curricular activities. Some of the clubs can teach children skills that are not part of our school curriculum. Because children learn through play, each of these activities allows them to learn new skills and enhances our curriculum as a result. For example, if they do gardening club, they will also gain an awareness of the planet and the environment around them.
After school clubs are extremely social environments. Putting children in groups with others who also like doing the same activities provides multiple opportunities for socialising and interacting with each other. The skills that children can learn from being in social situations can benefit them in all areas of their lives. They can become confident when working in a team and they can gain an awareness of other people’s feelings, improving their emotional intelligence as a result.
They’re fun and a chance to do something you’re interested in, as well as being an affordable and reliable childcare option.
At the bottom of this page, you will find the clubs that are being run this half term, but we will be adding more throughout the year.
Please note that all children should be collected from the main reception at the end of all clubs.
All club leaders are given a register at the start of the club. This includes who is picking them up, if they attend our Dawn2Dusk club or have written permission to walk home.
Children who are being collected by a parent (or other nominated adult) will be released from the front entrance. If the parent isn’t there, the child will go to the back of the line and wait until their adult arrives.
Your child will only be released to walk home if the club leader has seen explicit written permission from a parent and this only applies to children in Year 4 or above.
If a parent is late to collect, the child will wait outside the office with a member of the office staff, who will contact the parents.
The club may be cancelled at short notice due to the weather and children will need to be collected at the normal end of school time.
All clubs run by the school will be available for booking and payment through your SCOPAY account each half term.
The clubs for which your child is eligible will appear as an option on your account, add them to the basket and then pay for the club, and this will book your place.
If you cannot see the club on your SCOPAY account, the club is FULL.
All Clubs run by outside providers must be booked and paid for via the provider’s website or email address.
