Parents' Meetings

A reminder that our Spring Parents' Meetings will be held on Wednesday 26th March 2025.

The booking system on Scopay opened at 4:00pm yesterday (Thursday 13th March) and will close at 9 am on Friday 21st March.

If you have already had a SEND Support meeting or have one booked in, then there is no need to book a further one for the 26th March.

Open Afternoon – Friday 21st March 2025

A reminder that our annual Open Afternoon will take place next Friday, starting at 1:45pm. Parents are warmly invited to visit the school, explore their children's work and celebrate their progress ahead of the Parents’ Evening sessions scheduled for the following week.

The afternoon will begin with a talk from the charity Show Racism the Red Card, who have been working with the children to deepen their understanding of inclusion and diversity, as well as helping them to recognise and positively challenge discrimination. Following this, there will be an opportunity to visit the children’s classrooms, see their work first-hand and hear about the exciting learning experiences they have been involved in.

This is a fantastic opportunity to see the children in their school environment, celebrate their achievements and share in their learning journey. We look forward to welcoming you at 1:45pm on Friday 21st March.

Please arrive promptly via the front entrance so we can begin the talk on time.

Show Racism The Red Card Workshops

We are very much looking forward to our Show Racism the Red Card workshops for pupils, parents and staff next week. As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusion and diversity, these sessions will encourage discussions about understanding racism, challenging stereotypes and being an ally.

Pupils will take part in age-appropriate activities designed to promote respect and empathy, helping them recognise and challenge discrimination in a positive way. This is just one of the many ways we ensure that Bexton is a welcoming, empowering and kind place for all members of our school community.

For further information and resources, please visit www.theredcard.org.

Reminder- Scooters and Bikes

We love seeing children being active, but just a quick reminder to please walk - not ride - scooters, bikes and anything similar, while on the school grounds. Drop-off and pick-up times can be very busy, and we want to make sure everyone - especially our youngest and oldest visitors - stays safe. Thanks so much for your support!

Bexton Colour Run - Friday 28th March

FOBS are excited to announce our first ever Colour Run! Children will race through vibrant colour zones on our school trim trail – all while raising money for the much-needed refurbishment of our well-loved Astro-turf! Entry is just £5, which includes a white event t-shirt, wrist band and a colour powder pack. More information can be found in the attached letter which has also been emailed out today.

If your child would like to take part, you need to:

  1. Pay the £5 registration fee on Scopay, which includes a white T-shirt and wrist band for your child to wear for the run

  2. Complete the registration and waiver form which can be found at this link: https://forms.office.com/e/TVThqS9L58

We have set up a Go Fund me page https://gofund.me/c481ad51. Children can also get paper sponsorship forms from school. If you work for a company that offers match funding for charity fundraising, we’d also love to hear from you! The deadline for entry is Friday 21st March at 12 noon. We will be placing orders for the t-shirts and powder on this date, so unfortunately there will be no opportunities for late entry. Please register and pay early to avoid disappointment.

Opal News

With the weather getting more spring-like, children who play football are less likely to wear their coats to cover their shirts. Please could parents send in with them a light top to wear instead, which will prevent school shirts from getting muddy when playing football.

We are also short of many items for OPAL play and would like to make a plea for donations as follows please:

·Wheeled items such as suitcases, go karts, wheelbarrows, trunkies, prams, pushchairs

·Wooden pallets in good condition

·Tyres

·Large paint brushes, decorating rollers (clean), washing up brushes, dustpan and brushes, sweeping brushes

·Plastic plant/herb pots

·Plastic animals e.g. farm, zoo, dinosaurs

·Garden furniture, parasols

Eco News

On Saturday 8th March it was International Women's Day and in celebration, we wanted to highlight the incredible contributions of women in horticulture and garden design. Please click on the link to find more information on the following women, who broke with tradition and created beautiful gardens that are still being enjoyed today.

British Science Week

The culmination of Science Week was exciting. The children visited the hall throughout the day and took part in many activities from different year groups, we had so much fun! A huge thank you to those parents who volunteered to run workshops this week, it is incredibly kind of you and both the children and the staff loved learning about such a wonderful variety of science related topics, thank you for enhancing the children's Science Week!

Music

Molly, Bertie and David performed solo pieces on their guitars and ukulele for our class today. They showed confidence and we were so proud of their musical abilities!

Local PCSO

Last Friday, our local PCSO visited the nursery to talk to the children about the role of a police officer. The children had the opportunity to try on a police officer's hat, sit in the police van and even activate the siren. They learned that the police are there to help and keep people safe.
